Armando Giuliano, MD

Executive Vice Chair of Surgery

Armando E. Giuliano, MD, is Executive Vice Chair of Surgery for Surgical Oncology, Co-director of the Saul and Joyce Brandman Breast Center -A Project of Women's Guild and Associate Director for Surgical Oncology at the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute.

Dr. Giuliano is a world renown expert and pioneer of sentinel nodes and breast cancer. He has made fundamental contributions to the field of sentinel node surgery.

In addition to serving as Chairman of the American College of Surgeons Oncology Group Breast Organ Site Research Committee, Dr. Giuliano served as Chairman of the Breast Fellowship Program Directors Committee for the Society of Surgical Oncology. He is the 2011 President of the International Sentinel Node Society.

David R. McCready, MD, MSc, FRCSC, FACS

Dr. McCready holds The Gattuso Chair in Breast Surgical Oncology at Princess Margaret Hospital and is Head of the Breast Centre at Princess Margaret Hospital in Toronto, Canada. He is principle investigator of the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project at the Princess Margaret Hospital site and is a member of the Breast Site Executive of the National Institute of Canada Clinical Trials Group.

Dr. McGready has a strong interest in Continuing Professional Development, clinical trials and sentinel node surgery in breast cancer.

Kazuhiko Sato, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Sato is Director of the Breast Oncology Center and Chair of the Department of Breast Oncology at Tokyo-West Tokushukai Hospital at Sun Yat-sen University in Tokyo Japan. His research in breast cancer sentinel lymph nodes has involved the study of Tin colloids for radioguided resection of the sentinel nodes and the relationship of particle size. He has also studied the use of ultrasound for preoperative evaluation of sentinel nodes. He is very interested in education and is the Director of the residency training program at the Tokyo-West Tokushukai Hospital.

Shigeru Imoto, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Imoto is Professor of the Department of Breast Surgery, School of Medicine, Kyorin University, Tokyo, Japan. He has published on sentinel nodes and breast cancer for more than a decade and his research includes evaluation of isolated tumor cells in sentinel nodes, prediction of the status of nonSNs, and the impact of the method of scoring lymph nodes. He is a principle investigator of the Japanese Society for Sentinel Node Navigation Surgery. He has published 80 papers about oncology. Dr. Imoto is developing new methods of minimally invasive surgery of the breast for sentinel node biopsy and radiofrequency ablation. His research is grant-supported by Health, Labour and Welfare Programs and the Foundation for the Promotion of Cancer Research and by the 3rd-Term Comprehensive 10-year Strategy for Cancer Control in Japan.

Hiram S. Cody III, MD, FACS

Dr. Cody is a world leading expert in the area of sentinel nodes and breast cancer. He has had a major impact on the development of this field and is the Principal Investigator of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s Sentinel Lymph Node Biopsy Program. He is currently President of the New York Metropolitan Breast Cancer Group, serves on the Board of Directors of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, and is an Editor of the journal Breast Diseases. David Krag, M.D., F.A.C.S. is the SD Ireland Professor of Surgical Oncology at the University of Vermont, USA. He is Senior Editor of the TreeofMedicine Sentinel Nodes and Breast Cancer. He is a pioneer of and international leader in the area of sentinel node surgery and breast cancer. He is Principle Investigator for the NSABP-B32 trial comparing sentinel node surgery to axillary node resection. He has organized training of hundred’s of surgeons in the methods of sentinel node surgery.

Gaurav Agarwal MS, DNB, PDC (Endocr Surg), FACS

Dr. Agarwal is Professor of the Department of Endocrine & Breast Surgery, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow, India. He was instrumental in starting the first MCI recognized MCh Endocrine & Breast Surgery program in the country. He has published more than 120 original papers and short articles. He has been a recipient of the American College of Surgeons International Guest Scholarship; UICC-ICRETT fellowship; Robert Schumann foundation scholarship and Nagoya Red-cross scholarship. Dr. Agarwal has served as Secretary General of Breast Surgery International, executive council member of the International Society of Surgery. He is one of the founding members of the Association of Breast Surgeons of India, and is a member of its executive council.
Biography

Dr. Ines Buccimazza

Dr. Ines Buccimazza is Senior Specialist in the Department of Surgery at the Nelson R. Mandela School of Medicine, University of KwaZulu-Natal, Durban, South Africa. Her work focuses on surgical management of breast cancer. She has been chairperson of the Breast Cancer Forum for KZN (KwaZulu-Natal) for nearly a decade. Her international breast cancer activities are through ISW and Breast Surgery International where she holds leadership positions. Dr. Buccimazza is on the executive committee of the Association of Surgeons of South Africa. She brings an important perspective on issues related to management of breast cancer in developing countries.
